This adorable collection allows you to choose everything from the size to the shape to the color of your rug and on top of all that, you can even personalize it with your little one’s initials or monogram for a truly one-of-a-kind design. How would you define Creative Carpet Design’s style philosophy?

Our design philosophy is summed up by our motto, “It’s your rug…your way” We want to always allow the customer to be able to have a custom rug where they can choose how they want their rug to look. They get to choose size, shape, colors and options they want in their custom rug such as an initial or monogram inlay, a border, polka dots or stripes and not have to settle for a mass produced rug.

What inspired you to become a designer?

As long as I can remember I have always been interested in design & decorating. I remember moving furniture and redecorating my parents home when I was just a child. It is a passion of mine. I have not been professionally trained, it is a God given talent and that coupled with  having an entrepreneurial mind has allowed me to be able to do it for a living along with my talented husband who is in charge of the manufacturing.

Why did you choose to design personalized children’s rugs?

Before creating our personalized children’s rugs, we created very high end custom rugs for our local clients. Those rugs ranged from $3,000-$6,500. I knew most people could not afford to pay that for a custom rug (including myself) so I decided to create custom rugs for children in fun, on trend colors that mostly everybody could afford. You no longer have to be a Donald Trump to have a custom rug for your child’s room.

What is your favorite part of your daily work when you reflect on the day, what is most rewarding?

It is so rewarding to get emails & photos back from our customers saying how thrilled they are with their custom rug we created for them and to see the photos showing the custom rug in the room it was designed for. We LOVE that! Most of all though I would have to say giving of either our custom rugs to children who are battling illnesses through organizations such as Make A Wish or donating a percentage of profits to orphans through companies like Holt International, that is what is most rewarding!

If you had to pick a favorite piece from your collection, what would it be?

Wow, that is a hard question because they are all like my babies! I do love our custom initial & monogram rugs, but the polka dot rugs are so fun & happy, oh and our newest designs…the custom striped rug and custom double border rug…I love them all! They are all my favorites!

Creative Kid’s Rugs

Long gone are the days when a rug was just a single colored work of woven fabric to cover the floor. Today’s rugs offer unique ways to decorate your child’s bedroom and playroom with original shapes, interactive play and wonderfully personalized pieces that can change the look and feel of a whole room.

Interactive Rugs

When children are young, finding ways to engage their minds and develop their skills for social interaction is one of the most beneficial things parents can do. For the playroom, picking a rug that’s laid out with the images of a town or play house lets children use other toys in a new context! These unique kids play carpets feature textured, intricate, imaginative worlds and will entertain your child in his or her playroom for hours. Hot wheels, toy planes and small dolls can make their way around interactive rugs, stimulating your son or daughter’s appetite for learning and social experiences.

Fun Shapes and Textures

Wait a minute, rugs come in multiple shapes? Well kid’s rugs definitely do! From hearts and flowers, to surfboards and clouds, there are all sorts of fun shaped rugs to complete your theme and add some whimsy to your child’s room.

Textured rugs are also a great choice for children’s rooms. The Shaggy Raggy Rug is an all time favorite with its woven strips of jersey, cozy feel, and varied color options. The Shaggy Raggy Rug also comes in fun shapes – two birds, one stone!

Personalized Rugs

Wall letters and decals aren’t the only way you can personalize a room. Choose your rug color, size and even the font with a Monogrammed rug for a unique and preppy accent. You can choose either a single initial for your family name or a full monogram. Either way, this is a perfect option that will make your child’s room truly special.

No matter what style of rug you choose to decorate the nurseries, playrooms and bedrooms in your home, you’re sure to brighten up both your décor and your child’s love of their space! To see our full selection of kid’s rugs, click here or visit

Susie Fougerousse

How would you define the Rug Market’s style philosophy?

All about trends styles and colors. That’s what we strive toward. We are always looking to the future, creating the best designs possible and embracing innovation and change.

What inspired you to become a designer and start a business?

I was an observer of people in fine clothes, creative and colorful store merchandising and what was in fashion. All this drove me toward a design-centered business. I have always enjoyed designing, fashion and colors. It has always been a passion of mine so I fused it into my business model.

Why did you choose to design and make rugs?

I wanted to go into women’s fashion. However, because I was in the rug business doing retail and I understood rugs, it was a natural choice. I believe in doing what you know best but I felt rugs were boring in designs and colors in the 80′s so why not bring the idea of fashion and trends into area rugs? I decided to make rug designs fresh, bright and fun; so I developed a line that would be all those in one.

What is your favorite part of your daily work…when you reflect on the day, what is most rewarding?

Working with my designers, shopping for ideas and planning what’s next are all very rewarding. However, what I find most rewarding is when I see our products in catalogs and stores being displayed and hearing reps, customers and editorials bragging and praising how beautiful our line is.

If you had to pick a favorite design from your collection, what would it be?

There are two styles within our collections to which I am drawn. One is Whimsical Iconic and the other is Sophisticated Subtle with textural looks. Both styles can be found in kids or adult lines.

What sets The Rug Market apart from other rug designers?

We thrive on style, color and trends. What separates us from others is the fact that we always walk that fine line between safe and innovative by often introducing colors for which the market may not yet be ready.

Do you have any news that you would like to share, perhaps about upcoming designs or introductions to your line?

We do many rugs for different uses, not just kids rugs. For the kids’ division we always have new designs 6 times a year. We introduce many designs for baby, kids and teenagers. It is hard to pinpoint one particular design because the line is so diverse that it is hard to just do one theme.

As far as overall and additions to our collection, yes, we have a new swatch program that we have introduced to help designers/buyers with their customers pick the rugs that would best fit them. Our outdoor line has taken off and we have many new, exciting and fresh looks to be featured in Chicago at the Casual Market. Our new Natural collection, which we started introducing in High Point, has a really clean yet fresh look for the modern day!!

Animal Print Bedroom Theme

You may be thinking, is animal print too mature for a little girl’s room? Indeed its fashionable nature and appreciation by women may make it seem so. However, when paired with the right elements, animal print can add a splash of classy yet playful style to any kid’s room.

When decorating with animal print, always remember that less is more. Because animal print makes such a bold statement, it’s best used for accessorizing a room with a piece here and there, and not all over. Check out some of these fun ideas for designing an animal print themed room!

Bedding – These Safari Zebra Blankets by Little Giraffe are the perfect choice for an animal print theme! The bold zebra print is paired with baby blue, baby pink or white, creating a distinctive design accent that is sophisticated yet sweet.

Lighting – Another route you may wish to take is to feature the animal print in its natural colors for an even more classy look and bring out your color elsewhere. This 5-arm Glass Turret Chandelier by Jubilee features black and white zebra print shades, but is also accented with pink bows to add a childlike charm.

Art – A great piece of wall art is another way to tie in the theme to your child’s fashionable room décor. Oopsy Daisy canvas reproductions often incorporate animals and fun patterns and are a great choice for this exciting theme. Timmy the Zebra in Powder Blue Canvas Reproduction will appeal to your young animal lover while accenting your chic design vision perfectly.

Accessories – If you’ve already chosen your room’s larger pieces, it’s easy to choose some great animal print accent accessories to liven things up! This Green Zebra Stripe Wall Clock works perfectly for a splash of color and chic feel. Not to mention, this clock can be personalized!

Animal print pieces are sassy, fun, and timeless. If used in a minimalist approach, they have the potential to create a sophisticated and stylish environment for your little one for years.  All of these animal print products and many more come alive in Rosenberry Rooms’ wild assortment of wall art, kids rugs, girls chandeliers and much, much more!

Planes, Trains and “Tucks”: Designing a Transportation Themed Room

I recently spent time with a friend who has an energetic and curious two and a half year old named Finn. As I entered Finn’s playroom, formerly his parent’s basement, I noticed everything was trucks, trains, or cars. My friend told me that when he was younger, anytime she and Finn were in the car he was always memorized when a truck would drive by. She would say to him, “that’s a truck” and after saying it hundreds of times Finn’s favorite word when he started talking was, “tuck”. So as I was playing with the train set with Finn he would constantly stop to point to the cement mixer and oil tanker toys on the train set mat and yell, “tuck, tuck”. I gathered from that experience and from my friend’s story that Finn loves trucks! The visit with Finn inspired me to write about designing a bedroom or playroom for boys who love all things transportation. Planes, trains, trucks and cars present a fun theme that will captivate your little boy’s interests and enhance his growing imagination. Here are some ideas for designing a transportation themed bedroom or playroom.

DwellStudio’s Modern Transportation Bedroom: At Rosenberry Rooms we all have a great appreciation for DwellStudio because of their modern designs and bright colors! The Transportation Duvet Bedding Set by DwellStudio features retro silhouettes of trains, planes, blimps, bikes and other modes of transportation. The great part about DwellStudio is in addition to children’s bedding they have kids furniture, wall art, toys, kids rugs and storage options that come in the transportation pattern. Your entire nursery or bedroom can be completely Dwell! I also love Dwell Studio’s Orange Bus Bookshelf. This bright orange bookshelf adds a pop of color to any room and is a stylish organizational piece to accent the room.

The Traditional Transportation Bedroom: For a more classic spin on the transportation room, try accenting with bright colors in red and blue. Start with the Cars and Trucks Twin Quilt by Whistle & Wink. Vintage cars drive across the timeless Cars and Trucks Quilt! When the weather changes you can switch out the quilt with the Windowpane Plaid Duvet in red, white, and blue 100% cotton percale with red cord piping! Also, I love the Sport Racer Pedal Plane by Airflow Collectibles. This item is not only a great decorative piece, but it will also provide hours of entertainment for your child. Pair it with other vintage inspired décor, such as the Speed Limit Canvas Reproduction and the Vintage Stripes on White Base Lamp by Oopsy Daisy.

An Educational Yet Fun Transportation Playroom: We have some great interactive rugs that will work well in a transportation playroom. The Ride the Train Play Carpet and Race Track Play Carpet by Learning Carpets are my favorites because both are perfect for your little boy’s mini race cars, trucks and trains as it features swirling curves. Organize all of your child’s cars and trucks with our Boys Personalized Storage Crates by When I Was Your Age. The possibilities are endless with these Personalized Storage Crates because you can choose the color and text to match any theme! Lighting is important in any room where you little one will play so go with a great overhead light. One of my favorite ceiling fixtures for a transportation theme is the Helicopter Three Light Chandelier in Satin Nickel!

How to Decorate a Fairyland Bedroom

After returning from a trip to Orlando, Florida and visiting the magical world of Disney, I was inspired to write about decorating a fairytale bedroom for girls. Creating a magical room for your little girl will feed her imagination and give her space to grow among elements of comfort and luxury.

Personally, I love the fairyland theme because it incorporates elements that are both magical and elegant. The room I envision incorporates things like flowers and butterflies among subtle elements of sparkle. So here are a few ways to decorate your fairytale room!

Bedding – The Fairyland Quilt and Sheet Set by Whistle and Wink is the main focus of the room. This girls bedding features sage green and pixie pink colors, combining earthy hues with magical and inspiring designs. Lurex threads shimmer among embroidered butterflies and fairies, adding the perfect element of fairy dust sparkle. Accessorize with the Fairyland Decorative Pillow and Printed Standard Shams to complete the look.

Décor – The Fairy and Flowers Hand-Painted Clock is another great piece for this enchanted bedroom. The clock features a unique design and hand-painted artwork, adding a playful and whimsical element to the room. Personalization is so popular right now! There is nothing that can’t be personalized, from clocks to growth charts, bedding and artwork to furniture. Every child loves to see their name in their room because it reinforces that this is their space and makes them feel special. So personalize with the Whimsical Fairies Handpainted Wall Letters.

Lighting – Sparkle is an essential piece of the fairytale-inspired bedroom. The Eleanor Pink Chandelier by Maura Daniel captures the natural sparkle of the fairyland forest with its adornment of dainty crystal flowers and subtle pink teardrops. In addition to an overhead light it is very important to have a secondary light source, such as a table, floor or reading lamp. The Small Sophia Sage Lamp by Maura Daniel adds a softer light and is a great way to create a quiet mood for reading and relaxing.

Kids Rugs – Our Rose Garden Rug in pink or green is the perfect accent for a fairyland girls bedroom. This chenille braided rug is solid, soft, smooth, and 100% reversible!

Room Theme: Love Birds

Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite holidays! With the day quickly approaching I’ve been thinking about different ways to incorporate my favorite holiday into a room design that avoids using hearts and images of cupid. How about a love bird theme? A love bird design provides a refreshing option for your little girl’s bedroom and emanates a classic, cool vibe that your child will appreciate at any age.

1. Bedding - My inspiration for this design theme was Whistle and Wink’s Bird of Paradise Girls Bedding. All of Whistle and Wink’s designs are simple in nature, but accented with beautiful colors which capture the eye and inspire the imagination. I love the contrast of soft purple among the brightly colored embroidered birds. This design is available for cribs or twin beds!

2. Lighting -  I chose the Sarah Lamp by Jane Gray for Stray Dog Designs. This unique lamp is handmade by artisans in Haiti and features two adorable birds on a paper mache tree branches. Both the stand and the shade are available in different colors, making this piece customizable to your room color scheme.

3. Children’s Art – I love DwellStudio’s Garden Multi Wall Art. This piece features a vintage bird sitting on a branch among bright leaves and bold flowers. Another great option is the Little Yellow Love Bird Canvas by Oopsy Daisy. This beautiful canvas of art features two adorable yellow birds among flowers and dragonflies. Oopsy Daisy Fine Art for Kids is known for its dedicated team of artists who produce high-quality canvases in a timely manor. The artists reproduce their artwork on canvas in an affordable way, and the nice thing is that it is very easy to switch out the look of the room without the commitment of a mural on the wall.

4. Rug – For a nursery the Spring Meadow Rug in Dandelion by Colonial Mills Rugs would make a great accent rug in front of the crib. Another great kids rug option for baby or child is the Shaggy Raggy Rug in yellow by The Rug Market. Our shaggy raggy rug in yellow is an update on the traditional shag and is made of soft jersey. It looks great, is very soft to the touch, and the best part is, it can be thrown in the washing machine!

New: Chandra Rugs

Choosing a kids rug is an important part of designing your child’s room. A rug is really a multipurpose tool, in that it can be used to accent the focal point, such as the crib, or can be used to tie the whole room together, in the case of a larger area rug. One of our newest rug designers is Chandra Rugs! This new line features rugs with designs that are a true work of art. Chandra Rugs are made of the softest high-quality materials, keeping your child’s feet cozy while playing in his or her room. Choose from the floral designs, wild animal prints, geometric compositions, or the traditional shag rug. I love the delicate, whimsical outdoor pattern of the Silver Breeze and the Winter Berries Rowe Rugs! You can view these rugs and more from Chandra Rugs by clicking HERE.
