Meet Rebecca of BabyBeau Luxury Changing Bags!

Please welcome to RosenberryRooms.com our newest collection of designer diaper bags by BabyBeau! This collection of luxury changing bags was created by designer Rebecca Gono who was on a quest to find a stylish yet functional changing bag before the arrival of her first child. She wanted something that looked great and had the bottomless practicality of Mary Poppins’ holdall – somewhere to store the never-ending newborn necessities of bottles, diapers, bibs, wet wipes and so on. What happens when you can’t find what you want? You make it yourself, which is just what Rebecca did! Her fabulous collection of baby bags is meant to easily transform from functional diaper bags to fashionable handbags. The line even includes styles for trendy dads, too! Check out some of these gorgeous bags below and find out which is Rebecca’s favorite, what sets her line apart and more.

How would you define the BabyBeau style philosophy?

The BabyBeau style philosophy is to create luxury changing bags that combine style with functionality, enabling style conscious parents to effortlessly exude fashion flair without sacrificing their individuality. The concept was built around a core understanding that becoming a parent needn’t define you however, it should allow parents to combine everything they were, with everything they’ve become.

What inspired you to become a designer and start a business?

Back in 2010 when I was expecting my first child, it was absolutely impossible to find a stylish changing bag. I wanted a fashionable changing bag that hid its true function but finding the perfect changing bag proved to be impossible. I was tired of seeing style conscious mothers & fathers like myself compromising on style with the traditional looking baby bags. I was determined to design changing bags that allowed mothers and fathers to express their own style, nothing babyish just elegant, and a range of changing bags that look like regular fashion handbags.

What is your favorite part of your daily work when you reflect on the day, what is most rewarding?

I love the fact that my job allows me to express my creativity. It is very rewarding when I receive emails from parents who are delighted with their BabyBeau changing bag. Starting my own business has been challenging. I have learned so much in a short space of time and I am still learning! It is amazing to be able to continue to have a fulfilling career while also being a wife & mother.

If you had to pick a favorite piece from your collection, what would it be?

That’s a tough one, I love all my changing bags because they have been personally designed by me, however when I first saw the finished product of Eden it was love at first sight. Eden has a sentimental spot as it represents my journey – the woman I’ve become through motherhood.

What sets BabyBeau apart from other designers in your industry?

I’ve designed everything from the website to the products to all the branding, so BabyBeau represents a mother with passion and encourages mothers to keep living their dreams.

Do you have any news that you would like to share, perhaps about upcoming designs or introductions to your line?

There are more stunning pieces to add to our range and we plan on branching out into other accessories so watch this space.

What’s In My Diaper Bag with Kelli!

Today we are going behind the scenes with Mama of 1 (and a 2nd due in February), Kelli, Customer Service and Sales Manager for Rosenberry Rooms! Kelli is sharing with us a few of her diaper bag essentials; her must haves that ensure she is prepared while on the go with her adorable little one. We are currently running an office poll for what we think baby #2′s name (a girl) should be. If you have any fun ideas, leave them in the comments below and tell us, are any of Kelli’s must haves similar to yours?

1. Bleeker Diaper Bag in Gray - I love this bag for many reasons! It was given to me as a gift from one of my dearest friends, and it’s spacious with lots of pockets for storage. It also comes with a changing pad and can double as a purse in my opinion. I love that I was able to use it with my first born (son) and will be using it again with my second (baby girl, due in February!)

2. Tums - Am I the only one that’s experienced severe heartburn with both pregnancies!? I eat Tums like they are candy so they are a must wherever I go. Bonus because they taste good and add an extra source of calcium!

3. Accessory for Mommy - Since scarf season has arrived, I would suggest a trendy scarf that can be tied around your diaper bag strap if it won’t fit in the bag and will come in handy for any spill cover ups you might need to make…

4. Entertainment - Let’s be honest, sometimes you have to get creative depending on where you’re at and the mood your child is in. This Baby Einstein Take Along Tunes toy always seemed to entertain and soothe Mason when he was younger.  It lights up and plays music and can easily attach to the car seat handle if necessary!

5. A small bag to store Mommy’s essentials - Especially when we’re on the go, I find it helpful to have my ”essentials” (chap stick, hand sanitizer, mirror to make sure I don’t have oatmeal stuck in my hair!) in a separate baggy so it’s handy and easy to grab when I need it.

6. Extra set of clothes - I always have a couple extra onesies in my diaper bag just in case. You can never have too many of them!

7. Cozy Blanket - Blankets are a must for multiple reasons but for Mason it’s his comfort item. I don’t know what would happen if we went somewhere and left it at home and it MUST be the one he’s attached to, not just any blanket will do!

8. Snacks - My (almost 2 year old) son will eat just about anything but the popular Yogurt Melts from Gerber Graduates have been a favorite of his for as long as I can remember!

9. Baby Sling - With a spacious enough diaper bag, hopefully you can find room for a baby sling or some type of baby carrier to give your arms a break on those (rare!) trips to the mall or long errands. I love the padded, adjustable strap on this sling, and the trendy patterns it is available in.

What’s In My Diaper Bag with Anna!

Anna, one of our fabulous Customer Care team members, gave birth to her first child, a baby girl in May of last year. Little Abbie has made a few appearances in the office and she is always a welcome break from the day. She is such a happy little baby with some of the cutest cheeks I’ve ever seen. New mama Anna is always on the go which means her diaper bag needs to be packed and ready with all the essentials her and Abbie might need wherever they go. She shared with us a few of the everyday must haves that keep her feeling prepared for anything…and with a 16 month old, she needs to be just that!

1. Cloth Diapers – I use these as burp cloths/spill picker uppers.  They are super absorbent and I always carry extra.

2. Ponytail holders – I usually always have one on my wrist, but I always have extra just in case I lose one. These hair ties by Emi-Jay are both colorful and fun and a portion of the proceeds go to charity.

3. On the Night You Were Born – This was my daughter’s first book and I read it to her every night. It calms her down and is a must for long car rides.

4. Wet n Wild Mega Last Lip Color in Bare it All – Keeps my lips soft and is a great neutral that I can wear even without wearing makeup.  It’s also great for a budget conscience Mommy like me.

5. Baby Blanket – I always have a small blanket with me.  It can be used to keep baby warm and can double as a play mat.

6. Snacks for Baby – I always have some kind of snack for my little one…especially if we are at a restaurant and have to wait to be seated.

7. Changing Pad and small Diaper sack – Timi and Leslie bags come with both of these items. The changing pad is great for changing on the go and the diaper sack is super useful in situations where you cannot throw away the diaper…like an emergency stop on the side of the road.

8. Boogie Wipes – I won’t go into details but these are a must!

9. Piper Tate Body Lotion – I am constantly washing hands and using hand sanitizer, so lotion is a must.  I LOVE how this one smells!

10. A happy picture of my child – To remind me of the sweet little angel I have when she is having one of her temper tantrums ;)

So tell us, what are your diaper bag essentials? Is there something you absolutely cannot leave the house without?

Tori Spelling Chooses Skip Hop!

As a wife, mother of 4, famous actress, party planner, blogger, best selling author and a TV show host, Tori Spelling really does it all, and of course…in style. Recently on her blog, ediTORIal, she shared some of her favorite diaper bags for mommies to be. Tori expressed that she likes to start fresh with each child and a stylish new diaper bag “is always a welcome investment.” Her top 5 choices include styles from designers like Marc Jacobs and Diaper Dude (for husband, Dean). However, her most favorite diaper bag of all is the Versa by Skip Hop!

The Versa Diaper Bag has a stylish slouch/hobo style with an expandable zip up/zip down center to give you added storage. How perfect is that? You know you’ve found a great diaper bag when it’s as equally functional as it is stylish and the Versa bag is just that. That Skip Hop, always a leap ahead. ;)

Meet Trevor of Sugarjack Diaper Bags and Enter to Win One!

One of our newest lines of designer diaper bags comes to us all the way from the UK! Sugarjack prides themselves on creating the ultimate changing bags that are so chic, they transcend traditional diaper bags and leave them in the dust. These undercover baby bags sport a fully removable liner that has all the baby organizer features of a traditional diaper bag. Not to mention, when your baby outgrows diapers, you’ll have a gorgeous bag in a classy, timeless design. Sugarjack came into being because Trevor Hayward and his wife were frustrated by a lack of appealing baby bags. They decided to create classy alternative bags that don’t “tell the whole world you’re a mother” and from this, Sugarjack was born!

So with that, I invite you to meet Trevor and check out some of the gorgeous bags AND we are giving one away to one lucky winner (more details below)!

How would you define the SugarJack style philosophy?

Why should a woman (or a man!) lose their style simply because they have become parents?

What inspired you to become a designer and start a business?

Early in 2009, with new baby due at any minute, my partner was carrying out exhaustive (for both of us!) research to try and find a changing bag that had a true sense of style and fashion. A bag that ideally didn’t look like a changing bag and something that retained her independent fashion sense. Wherever we looked there appeared to be no solution. It looked like you have to have a bag that tells the whole world you’re a mother and that’s that!’

After discussing with my business partner (Stephen Upton), we decided to turn the world of changing bags upside down and use our experience to re-define and challenge the “fashion.

We wanted to add more to our offering. Our aim to provide the ‘ultimate’ changing bag meant that we needed to provide much more than a stunning bag. We had to deliver in every area including Accessories and Packaging. That’s why each Sugarjack bag comes complete with high grade accessories including a changing mat, a bottle warmer, and two utility pouches/purses. For the packaging, a “keepsake” box to store treasured items, Care Card instructions that are housed within a mini-photo frame to keep your first baby photograph, and the environmentally responsible Bamboo Dust bag, which has been designed to be either a lovely tote shopping bag, or an extremely practical laundry bag for the nursery.

We had the designs, the concept, the packaging. Next we had deliver everything to the highest standards. We would not compromise on materials used and continue to follow our long-term business ideals regarding ethical sourcing and environmental awareness.

For several years we had been involved in the manufacture and supply of handbags and accessories for many leading high fashion retailers in the UK. We therefore had knowledge of some of the best quality factories worldwide, producing bags for the very top fashion houses worldwide. We unashamedly used our knowledge and contacts to ensure that Sugarjack bags would be made to the highest quality standards. The result… truly exceptional bags.

What is your favorite part of your daily work when you reflect on the day, what is most rewarding?

I don’t think I could pinpoint one part – we work extraordinarily hard to promote Sugarjack and ensure attention to quality and detail in every aspect of the business and every day is different. The most rewarding is the dual achievement of building a successful business around a happy and stable family – it is rewarding beyond words. It is not easy but that’s part of the fun!

If you had to pick a favorite bag from your collection, what would it be?

The Poppy.

What sets Sugarjack apart from other designers in your industry?

We employed one of the UK’s leading handbag designers to “design a range of stunning handbags”. Then by adding our unique “Baby Organiser” concept (a removable lining bag for all the baby changing essentials) we created beautiful baby diaper bags that simply transform into stylish fashion handbags when baby is not around.

Do you have any news that you would like to share, perhaps about upcoming designs or introductions to your line?

The next 12 months are shaping up to be very exciting – we have just launched in the Far East and in the USA. We are currently working on a stunning new range to add to our collection which includes a gorgeous soft leather slouch hobo design as well as a rucksack design along with a children’s bag! We also have a number of exciting new accessories in development to complement our range. Watch this space…..

Meet Leslie Newton of Timi & Leslie Diaper Bags!

Wearing a diaper bag no longer means sacrificing fashion when you have a timi & leslie diaper bag! Their brand of chic, hold-everything styles come in vibrant shades and durable fabrics that satisfy new moms and fashionistas, alike. We recently had the pleasure of interviewing Leslie Newton, creator of timi & leslie, who feels that her bags are for “the woman in every mom.” Don’t you love that? Read on to learn more about Leslie and how timi & leslie got started as well as see some of the gorgeous diaper bag designs! Be sure and check out the entire collection on RosenberryRooms.com!

How would you define the Timi & Leslie style philosophy?

We make products that are beautiful, stylish, fashionable but highly functional.  Once you have a baby, it’s a miracle if you even can get a shower in every few days, let alone look like you haven’t slept in your clothes.  So we do our best to give moms a diaper bag that will make them feel stylish, as well as keep them super organized, since this will be their major accessory for a good year and 1/2!  We want moms to be able to use their bags long after the diaper stage, too!

What inspired you to become a designer and start a business?

Well, I was always making things for fun and giving them as gifts.  I started making simple handbags for friends, and then made a diaper bag for someone.  I got such a great response, that I tried to see if I could sell them to stores.  One thing lead to another and it just took off.

Why did you choose to design diaper bags?

Besides the fact that I initially made one for a friend, at the time, back in 1999 there weren’t stylish diaper bags. There was a huge void in the market.  It seems every diaper bag company says that, but back then, there literally was a void.  I did my first show at ENK back then and was the only diaper bag company there. I had to put up signs all over my booth letting people know they were diaper bags because everyone thought I was just selling cool bags.

What is your favorite part of your daily work when you reflect on the day, what is most rewarding?

The creative process is my favorite part. When I have a creative explosion and ideas just keep coming to me.  I know I’m on to something when I get both a clear vision in my head of what I want to create, combined with a strong gut instinct that it’s going to be received well. What is most rewarding is when I get to connect to other moms, whom I don’t know, who tell me how much they love my bags and how great the bags make them feel. Can’t beat that!

If you had to pick a favorite piece from your collection, what would it be?

Oh my favorites change ALL the time!  I would say probably some of my first bags that were made from limited, vintage fabrics hold a soft spot in my heart.  I also, like everyone, love the Charlie Bag….and the tag-a-long, too.

What sets Timi & Leslie apart from other designers in your industry?

Well, I used to also have a handbag collection and sold to stores like Henri Bendel, Nordstroms, Bloomingdales, Anthropologie, Betsey Johnson, the list goes on, and with handbags, you have to be very on trend.  It was easy to translate that into diaper bags.  No one else really stays as current and on trend as we do with what’s happening in fashion and handbags.  And we have really developed our groove in combining very fashionable bags, that are also very functional.  I think our bags look the most “handbag-ish” (I just invented that word!!) and the least like diaper bags.

Do you have any news that you would like to share, perhaps about upcoming designs or introductions to your line?

Well we recently released four new styles, and they are getting a great response so that makes me happy!

Diaper Bags that Don’t Disappoint

We’ve all heard the horror stories about how horrendous the selection of baby and children’s products were “back in the day.” Depending on the age ranges of your children, you may have even experienced this first hand; I know I have. There is a 13-year range between my oldest and youngest, and the innovation in design both from a functional and aesthetic standpoint during that time has been incredible. So, when my first child was born, it seemed like the only option was to buy products lined with teddy bears and tacky tropical fish. It was frustrating not only because these products didn’t enhance or even blend with my personal style, but because they seemed to be designed to make it look as if you were living in a Disney movie.

Wow, have we come a long way! In my opinion one of the most striking improvements has been in the diaper bag industry.  Instead of trying to hide your diaper bag at the bottom of the stroller, you can now tote your bag around town with pride, even when the baby is at home. Half of the time, you can’t even tell that a mom is carrying a diaper bag, because it is so stylish.  Aside from looking fabulous, here are the five most notable innovations and functional features that diaper bags now have to offer.

Antimicrobial Fabrics

Say good-bye to crumbs and germs! Did you ever imagine that a diaper bag could be designed with a waterproof lining and a special antimicrobial treatment to kill germs, mildew, fungus and bacteria?  Well, the fantastic designers over at Ju-Ju-Be have done just that. Not only do their diaper bags have the coolest prints around, but they also boast innovative ways to keep your diaper bag clean. As most moms know, a diaper bag can turn into a giant mess in no time with all of the snacks and drinks that get toted around on a daily basis. Another great feature found in most Ju-Ju-Be bags are “crumb drains”, which are tiny openings at the bottom of the bag making it easy to brush out unwanted crumbs without having to remove everything and vacuum it out.

Insulated Bottle Pockets

I love this feature. Instead of dealing with packing a separate cooler inside of your diaper back to keep milk and formula at the right temperature, many diaper bags now feature bottle pockets that are insulated, which are also perfect for sippy cups. StorkSak has done a wonderful job with this! They have designed zippered bottle pockets that are easily accessible on the outside edges of their bags, so you don’t have to dig though your whole diaper bag. I have used the Emily Diaper Bag countless times for long trips because of the ease of grabbing and stowing cups, and it doesn’t hurt that the exterior is wipe-able, either!

Stroller Attachments

When you are out on the town or walking in the park, being able to attach your diaper bag to your stroller is key to allowing you to keep your hands free to take care of the baby or push the stroller. Thankfully, this essential feature is becoming more and more common. Typically the diaper bag strap is either long enough to stretch over both handles of the stroller, or your diaper bag will come equipped with detachable stroller straps designed to attach to the stroller handles. This feature is an absolute must! A great example of this is the Marilyn Bag by Timi & Leslie, which actually has both!

Gender Neutral Designs with Dads in Mind

One of the most important developments in the diaper bag world has been a new focus on the needs of fathers. Your husband may not be a stay-at-home dad, but he will likely still want to have a baby bag that he feels comfortable carrying when travelling or running errands with the kids. There are many styles that are meant to transition easily between men and women, and others that are distinctly designed with men in mind.  Diaper Dude is a brand that has become a favorite of celebrity parents, because they make cool diaper bags to please both moms and dads. They also boast key organizational features like a cell phone pocket and pacifier and key clips.

Built In Changing Stations

Most moms would prefer to avoid changing diapers in public, but we also know that isn’t realistic. So, it’s important to find a diaper bag that will make this process as smooth as possible. I am a big fan of the built-in changing station feature. Petunia Pickle Bottom is often touted as the perfect combination of form, function and fashion. The Boxy Backpack is a great example of this because in addition to the roomy and easy to carry design, the built-in changing station with roll out & detachable changing pad is a feature that you can’t live without.

Meet the Founders of Storksak, Suzi Bergman and Melanie Marshall!

When it comes to fashionable, designer diaper bags, Storksak is at the top of the list. The designs are both sophisticated and practical making them perfect for the stylish, on-the-go Mom! These gorgeous bags come in various high quality and durable fabrics including leather, satin and tweed that are designed to withstand the trials of parenthood! Also, the bold color options make these bags a stand out accessory to any outfit. Because Storksak‘s founders Suzi Bergman and Melanie Marshall are both Mothers, they know just how to design these beautiful and versatile bags that are also a favorite among celebrity Moms! After all, who doesn’t love a gorgeous handbag?! With that said, it is my please to introduce Suzi and Melanie as they take turns answering some of our questions about the inspiration behind their timeless collection of diaper bags found on RosenberryRooms.com!

Suzi Bergman and Melanie Marshall of Storksak

1. How would you define Storksak’s style philosophy?

[Suzi:] Simple, sophisticated design cleverly combined with innovative, practical features. We believe that a bag should be both functional and beautiful – a changing bag is no exception!

2.  What inspired you to become a designer and start a business?

[Melanie:] I was always interested in art and started off doing Fine Art.  While working on my degree, one of the lectures thought that my fast drawing style was more suited for design; that was really the first time I thought of it as a career.

After working as a designer in the fashion industry for many years I was ready to start my own business.  When I met Suzi at our kid’s school, we realized we had a great idea, and thought our combined skills were ideal for launching a business together.  We both had a strong desire to create stylish, functional solutions for modern parents and, at the same time, want to determine our own schedules, so we could be available for our families.  Flexibility was and still is paramount to us.

3. Why did you choose to design diaper bags?

[Melanie:] Having a child of my own really inspired me to design diaper bags.

After my husband and I had our first child, I went back to designing part-time. While living in California, I had the idea for Storksak. When Suzi and I met, we agreed there were no changing bags on the market that met our requirements; bags were either functional but unattractive or haute couture but lacked toughness and practicality.  We wanted to create bags that were functional, durable and yet more stylish than what was currently on the market.  So it seemed like the perfect time to launch a collection of chic, multifunctional parent bags that could meet the demands of modern parents.

Elizabeth Leather Diaper Bag in Camel

4. What is your favorite part of your daily work when you reflect on the day, what is most rewarding?

[Suzi:] I work within a fantastic team. To be able to work in such a positive environment and with so many talented individuals makes my working life very enjoyable!

5. If you had to pick a favorite piece from your collection, what would it be?

[Melanie:] My current favorite bag in the collection is the Elizabeth Camel but I also really like the new Dove Grey Elizabeth that will be available later this month.  I’m very happy with the leather and how it ‘wears’ with age, and use it daily for my laptop and iPad. I am also really pleased with the new designs that will be available in the spring.  The style I am particularly excited about the Isabella in Tan, certain to be my new favorite.  The quality of the leather is super soft, but it has a nice light textured finish, so it is durable and will wear well.  The spacious shoulder bag has oversized tassels on the front, and I think it is one of our most fashionable bags to date.  As with all our designs, the Isabella includes a number of practical features to help parents stay organized on the go.

6. What sets Storksak apart from other designers in your industry?

[Suzi:] I think Storksak has done so well because we have found that delicate balance between original, timeless designs and the practical, functional features that parents demand from a product.  All of our bags can be used everyday, whether you have children or not, and are designed to last. We know how important quality is, and our bags are constructed to withstand the kind of abuse parenthood can bring!

7. Do you have any news that you would like to share, perhaps about upcoming designs or introductions to your line?

[Melanie:] The Elizabeth, which has been in the collection since the very beginning, recently won ‘Best Changing Bag’ in the prestigious Junior Design Awards in the UK– that was a proud moment for us.

This season the collection will include a number of familiar styles, like the Olivia, Jools, Elizabeth, and Sofia in new colors or fabrics.  For SS2012 we will introduce several new designs, as well as some smaller connected items, still focused on the mother and baby.  We are also about to launch a new brand in September so keep checking our website, as this will be very exciting. Until then, mums the word!

Now…Just for Fun

Favorite Food[Suzi:] Anything covered in chocolate!

Favorite TV Show[Melanie:] I guess it is ‘Later’ with Jools Holland.  It’s a fantastic music show- I don’t think it’s shown over here, unless you watch BBC America, which I did a lot when we were living here! The show is a great forum to expose new, up and coming bands, as well as to showcase established artists.  I always enjoy seeing such a mixture of artists together.

Favorite Movie[Suzi:] My Fair Lady

Favorite Weekend Activity[Suzi:] Spending time with my children and hearing their stories!

Favorite Band[Melanie:] Well, this shows my age, but one of them is the Talking Heads.
