What inspired you to be a blogger/designer/DIY-er?

Design has really always been a big part of who I am. I can remember looking at homes with my Mom starting at about age 6. We would get in the car and drive around looking at houses and landscaping {this was before internet of course} and it was all I could think about. I loved decorating my room and keeping it clean…which carried on with me throughout my adult life {luckily}! After getting married at 19, I would scour Pottery Barn magazines looking for ideas to decorate our home. Quickly realizing we didn’t have thousands of dollars to spend on décor or furniture back then, we decided to give a go at DIY projects. We purchased our first home at age 20 and completely remolded it ourselves and after purchasing our second home a few years later, I decided to start a blog to journal our projects and to share and connect ideas with others.

What is your favorite part of your daily work…when you reflect on the day, what is most rewarding?

Knowing that I am making a positive impact for my family and my readers all in one is very rewarding. What started out as a hobby has lead into a beautiful career that I never dreamt was possible. Now, I am able to share my passion with other like minded people from around the globe and create a cozy, welcoming home for my family at the same time.

I love reading comments and emails from readers. They really brighten my day. Sometimes when I feel like giving up….{am I the only one who feels this way?} I read a sweet email from a reader and it totally can transform things. Also, hearing from my husband that he is proud of me for all that I do for our family is very rewarding.

Do you have any advice for other working moms?

The best piece of advice I can offer to other working Moms whether it be outside of the home or from your home office, is to enjoy your husband and your children before anything else. In the end what do we really have if we don’t have love? What do we have if everything else is going good but we are neglecting our families? Putting your family first will move mountains in your home, your work, and your life. I encourage you to find a happy balance between work and your family….and time manage your day! It’s key to staying focused and knocking those items off of your to-do list!

What is your most memorable design project or craft?

Blissfully Ever After DIY Projects

The projects I find most rewarding are our backyard makeover and our $100 laundry room makeover.

Small Laundry Room Ideas

Both projects were done DIY and the laundry room makeover I primarily completed by myself while I was nearly 8 months pregnant. A lot of sweat went into that project and I am pretty proud of the results.

Backyard Ideas

We spend a lot of time outdoors, so the backyard is enjoyed almost daily and our son loves it too which is a great feeling! We love entertaining on the back covered patio and plan to make a fire pit later this year.

If you could decorate a room for anyone in the world, who would it be?

Wow, this is a hard question because I’d love to collaborate with quite a few people to design a room, but if I had to choose I would go with Miranda Lambert. I love her music and I think her style would be fun and fresh yet have a cozy, traditional feel to it…which is something I can relate to.

What thing/place/event were you most recently inspired by?

I recently went to Blissdom, which is a large blog conference that was held in Dallas, Texas. I was really inspired by all of the amazing women who came together in one spot to share ideas, knowledge, and passion for blogging in all different types of areas from home décor to food to parenting to fashion. I left the conference with a million ideas running through my head and lots of new friendships made.

Where is your favorite place you have traveled to?

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, The Oregon Coast, Maui, and Providence, Rhode Island. Those are some of the most fun trips we’ve ever been on. It was a combination of a great destination, good people, food, and lots of fun!

Where in the world are you dying to go next?

My husband and I love to travel and the next spot on our bucket list is Bora Bora or Fiji.

What is your favorite Rosenberry Rooms product(s)?

You know I honestly haven’t had the opportunity to purchase any products from Rosenberry Rooms yet, but after getting in touch with the company, I am eager to see what I can find for some updates coming soon in our home.

Do you have any news that you would like to share, perhaps about upcoming events or projects?
