Pinterest is full of incredibly talented designers, bakers, stylists, and DIY-ers. But, what sets a good pin apart from a great pin? Creativity! Earlier this year, I spotted some of the most creative Super Bowl cookies I’d ever seen and traced them back to the adorable blog, Munchkin Munchies. Creator Sue Sparks has a passion for making cute cookies and other sweet treats and I found myself rather inspired to bake some cookies! (However, I quickly realized I should leave the decorating to the pros.) I reached out to Sue asking if she’d like to be featured on our blog and if she would share some of her most favorite cookie creations and tell us a little bit more about what she finds inspiring. So, check out our interview with Sue and be sure to visit her blog for more darling treat ideas!
I never baked alongside anyone when I was young, so didn’t realize that I enjoyed baking until I started my own family. I started out making homemade cinnamon rolls, which my family loved, and I was hooked. I started blogging after my daughter started a blog, and it looked like a lot of fun and a good way to keep connected with family. I began adding food and recipes to my blog frequently, so I started a second blog devoted to baking, and creating cute treats, Munchkin Munchies.
What is your favorite part of your daily work…when you reflect on the day, what is most rewarding?
The most gratifying part of my baking is connecting with others and seeing them smile over something I’ve created. It’s fun to associate with others that are as excited over a cute cookie as I am!
Do you have any advice for other working moms?
Follow your heart in determining your priorities and keep them in focus. Find enjoyment in whatever you do, and do the best you can.
What is your most memorable baking creation?
I would have to say my most recent creation, Bunny Cookies and Milk. I had so much fun creating and they were very well received by so many, which was a thrill.
If you could bake for anyone in the world, who would it be?
I get a kick out of baking for my grandchildren! They seem to love it, and are some of my biggest fans! I think my husband is my number one fan! He took one of my sugar cookies, and a cake pop (two separate trips) with him to the top of Mt. Whitney! He had someone take a photo and he sent it to me.
What thing/place/event were you most recently inspired by?
I am inspired by many creative people, especially cookie decorators! I am inspired when I sit down with one of their newly published books and think of the possibilities for the future.
Where is your favorite place you have traveled to?
Besides visiting my children, I enjoyed hiking around the Grand Canyon and Yosemite with my husband.
Where in the world are you dying to go next?
I hope to travel to Paris!
What is your favorite Rosenberry Rooms product(s)?
I love the Nantucket Table and Chair Set. My grandchildren would have lots of fun at that table.
