Today’s Creative Contributor, Tracy Allen, comes to us from Atlanta, Georgia and is the creator of the adorable party and printables blog, Sweet Peach Paperie! As a mother of 3, this southern gal quickly found a love for planning parties and creating invites for her little ones birthdays and was inspired to start her own company. Read on to learn more about Tracy and Sweet Peach Paperie and to see some photos of her darling events!
What inspired you to become a designer and ultimately to found Sweet Peach Paperie?
I have always loved making birthdays special! During college and single life with roommates, I would stay up late and wait for the birthday girl to go to bed. It was then time to decorate her bedroom door with homemade signs, balloons and streamers that would greet her in the morning. When dreaming about the future, I always thought a quaint little paper shop would be so fun. Remember the Shop Around the Corner from You’ve Got Mail? That was my fairytale vision!
Fast forward to life as a stay-at-home-momma, I put my crafty side to work when planning my twin daughters’ first birthday. I designed the invitations and all the party decor for their sweet lollipop celebration. With no grand intentions or business endeavors, I decided to sell the used party goods in a local ad. My labor of love sold the next morning and additional requests rolled in. I put a passion to work and Sweet Peach Paperie came to be!
What is your favorite part of your daily work … when you reflect on the day, what is most rewarding?
I love designing new collections and get so giddy when something comes out just the way I created it in my head! However, the sweet feedback and precious comments from my customers would be the most rewarding. The emails that include “L-O-V-E” and twenty exclamation points make my day!
Do you have any advice for other working moms?
I think it is very important to set boundaries that work best for you and your family. Currently, I devote one full day to Sweet Peach Paperie. The remainder of the week, it is a very busy “naptime business”. I am working hard to treasure this season while my daughters are young. It is difficult to say no to projects and keep those boundaries, but I know the day will soon come when Sweet Peach Paperie is my full time job. Until then, I love that my printable party shop allows me to balance my passions as a mom and designer.
What is your most memorable design or event?
My daughter Eliza’s first birthday was definitely a memorable one!! I had so much fun planning her Preppy Nautical Party and loved every minute of pulling together all the details. When it came to the day of the party, I believe every possible hiccup took place. Whew, the list is truly too long!! In the end, everything came together beautifully and it was such a special night of celebrating our little girl.
If you could create a party for anyone in the world, who would it be?
Of course, it would be so fun to create a party for someone fabulous and famous, but I think I would choose just the opposite. I would love to design a magical party for a child who may be less accustom to such “royal treament”. This has been a desire of mine for a while and I’m hoping to make that dream come true this year!
What thing/place/event were you most recently inspired by?
Wow, everywhere! My little ladies, music, favorite movies, commercials, children’s books, storefront displays…I feel like I always have ideas running around in my head. My most recent inspiration came from the logo of a reality cooking show. It’s funny because the birthday theme my daughters have chosen has absolutely nothing to do with cooking! Inspiration can be hiding in the strangest places!!
Where is your favorite place you have traveled to?
Hmm…it’s hard to pick a favorite! For a relaxing secluded vacation, Virgin Gorda and Peter Island were both amazing and so beautiful! The sentimental side of me would say Paris and Lake Lucerne, Switzerland. My husband and I spent our first anniversary in Europe and those cities have sweet memories!
Where in the world are you dying to go next?
With three toddlers at home, getting away is not the easiest, but we give it our best effort! I think a trip to London or a B&B in Cape Cod are the next kid-free trips on our list.
Do you have any news that you would like to share, perhaps about upcoming collections or events?
Next on my design list is a vintage southern “Sweet Peach” Collection! I recently had a customer contact me in great hopes for a peach party. If my business is Sweet Peach Paperie, I guess I should have a peach party collection!
What is your favorite Rosenberry Rooms product(s)?
I have so many favorites, but my most recent picks are the Sweet Ballerina and Beautiful Ballerina Canvas Reproductions. My twin daughters are fraternal, one has blonde hair and the other is a redhead. When I spotted these ballerinas, they instantly became the inspiration for their room makeover.
Now, just for fun
