What inspired you to become a designer and party stylist and ultimately to found A Blissful Nest?

The birth of my daughter in August 2008 created a need in me to nest and create as it does to most moms. I had been a interior designer for 10 years and what I could not find for her room I just made myself. When her first birthday rolled around I could not find anything that wasn’t a commercialized product. That’s when I decided to start “playing around” with the computer and taught myself photoshop. From there, I fell in love with a new form of design- tablescapes.

What is your favorite part of your daily work … when you reflect on the day, what is most rewarding?

My favorite part of my day is that it is a completely flexible schedule. I love that I can take my daughter to school every morning and am the one to pick her up and hear all about her day in the car ride home. It is our special time and I can still work around all this. I am so blessed!

Do you have any advice for other working moms?

It is so hard to balance work with life at home when your office is in the next room. It is a constant battle but one worth fighting. Just know you will not get those moments back with your little ones and pull the plug more often than not.

What is your most memorable design project?

It’s funny that I think my daughter Lauren’s 2nd birthday party is still my all-time favorite. It was bold and bright and incorporated not only my daughter’s love of butterflies but her personal nature of being a social butterfly! I think it is so important to pick themes that embody your child’s personality and passions.

If you could design a room or event for anyone in the world, who would it be?

Right now the hottest 1st birthday party is going to be Jessica Simpson’s baby, Maxwell. Can you imagine what that first birthday will be like?!! Oh the amazing possibilities.

What thing/place/event were you most recently inspired by?

Funny you should ask that as we just took Lauren to Disneyland for the first time. She insisted on riding Small World 4 times and on the 3rd trip around I got out my phone and starting snapping pictures. The oversized blooms in the last room of all the countries together have me dying to do a “Let Her Grow” themed party.

Where is your favorite place you have traveled to?

Porto, Portugal has been the most inspiring and beautiful place I have been too. The architecture and the people are so enthralling. I could have sat there and just looked at those old buildings all day but my husband was on a different schedule!

Where in the world are you dying to go next?

I have always wanted to go to Italy. I collect Italian pottery from the early 1900’s and would love to go to flea markets all day there.

What is your favorite Rosenberry Rooms product(s)?

Oh I just love all RR accessories! Some of my favorites are the Sue Wright Mirror in turquoise, the Personalized Catch-All Box , the Pink Ruffle Pendant, Zinnia Rose Duvet Set, and Moroccan Pouf in Gold.

Do you have any news that you would like to share, perhaps about upcoming events or projects?
