Petite Social is known for taking your celebrations up a notch with big style! Creator Katie Wells calls herself a “late bloomer” when it comes to styling parties but it’s clear she’s got natural talent! Her parties have been featured on sites such as Hostess with the Mostess and Martha Stewart’s Dreamers into Doers! So, check out some of Katie’s adorable parties below and find out where she finds her inspiration!
I would call myself a very late bloomer. I didn’t go to school and major in graphic design, fashion, marketing, or anything creative. I’ve spent the last 15 years in Corporate America working in Human Resources and Recruiting, nothing creative about that at all.
I’ve always loved hosting and entertaining but never realized the amount of creative energy I had bottled up inside until I started planning my own children’s parties a few years ago. It all started with a night of perusing the web for inspiration and stumbling across HWTM. I was looking for ideas and resources to purchase party decorations, but every idea I came across became a challenge to myself to make it a DIY project. I discovered I had a good eye for style, design, décor, and the tiniest of details.
Launching Petite Social was never in the plan, but a total leap of faith.
Do you have any advice for other working moms?
I think every working mom is looking for advice on how to balance everything. I’m still looking for that balance.
Petite Social is less than a year old and when you’re a new entrepreneur looking to grow your business, you’re eager to take on every project that comes your way. This past year has taught me that there are tons of great projects out there, but I can’t take it all on. I don’t have to be superwoman. I’ve gotten better at saying “No” and believe that there will always be other great projects that will come along.
What is your most memorable or favorite event you’ve styled?
That’s a tough one! I’ve been really lucky to have had so many great parties and projects to style for. All with different themes, allowing me to really exercise my creativity. If I had to pick, it would be either my Rustic Garden Cocktail Party or my Preppy French Open-Inspired Tennis Party.
What thing/place/event were you most recently inspired by?
I surf pinterest, flip through magazines, walk up and down store aisles and stare at window displays looking for inspiration. I’m inspired by pattern and color and that’s how my concept develops.
I’m getting ready to work on a styled photoshoot using the colors from a collection of ceramics that I collected from a trip overseas.
Where is your favorite place you have traveled to?
Italy! My husband and I spent 16 glorious days in Italy celebrating our 5 year anniversary. This was before the kiddos! From Venice, Tuscany, Rome, Positano and Capri – and all the little towns in between, we had the most amazing time experiencing the different charm and character each city had to offer. I couldn’t pick a favorite.
Where in the world are you dying to go next?
I’d love to explore Spain or Greece next. If it has outdoor cafes, good people watching, culture, amazing food and wine, that’s my kind of place.
What is your favorite Rosenberry Rooms product(s)?
Do you have any news that you would like to share, perhaps about upcoming events or projects?
Petite Social is turning ONE in July! Of course there will be a birthday party! I have a few fun projects lined up as well, but don’t want to jinx it by sharing too early.

Now, just for fun:
Favorite Food – Ohhhh… I love to eat so it’s hard to choose! Depending on my mood, my last two meals would be either a nice juicy burger on brioche bun, truffle fries, and a nice cold beer. I can eat! Or a plate of artisanal cheeses, fresh fruit, and a large crusty baguette with Prosecco.
Favorite TV Show – I DVR Grey’s, Private Practice, Mad Men, Parenthood, The Housewives of Beverly Hills and NY, and Gossip Girl (don’t judge).
Favorite Movie – Under the Tuscan Sun, The Notebook, Pretty Woman
Favorite Weekend Activity – Picnicking, brunching and flea/farmer’s market shopping
Favorite Musician/Band – Anything that makes me want to dance.
