Parenting Magazine is one of the best resources for keeping parents and moms-to-be in the know when it comes to pregnancy, fertility, parenting tips, healthy recipes for kids and so much more! If you’re looking for tips for choosing a baby name, the newest tech apps for children, the 50 best kid’s parties, you name it, Parenting.com has it. We had the opportunity to interview Parenting Mag’s Lifestyle Editor, Kelly Ladd-Sanchez, who shared with us her favorite things about working for the magazine, her most memorable interview and much more!
I’ve always been a writer. I remember sitting on the side of my house when I was six years old pretending I was a news reporter writing articles about my day. Throughout my childhood, I’d sit in my room and write stories throughout my childhood. In college I took a lot of creative writing classes and my passion for writing soared.
What is your favorite part of your daily work … when you reflect on the day, what is most rewarding?
The creative process is the best part of my job. I love sitting in a room with the rest of the Parenting staff and just throwing out and fleshing out ideas.
I also love looking for trends and sharing them with our readers. It could be the latest product, family activity, or my favorite a cool new craft idea. Making crafts at work – nothing is better!
Do you have any advice for aspiring writers?
Manifest your dream by writing about what you love – find your niche.
What is your most memorable interview or feature?
My first job out of college was as the music web writer for Hard Rock Café. Weekly, I’d review concerts like Coldplay, Jewel, Alisha Keys and Pink and interview rock bands like Bush, Nickelback and Three Doors Down. That was a fun job.
Today, I get to create the big crafts story for Halloween and plan the annual birthday party feature. Love it.
What person/place/event were you most recently inspired by?
My son Kai. At five years old, his is a ball of energy and so snuggly. From the moment we wake up to the moment we go to sleep, we laugh.
Where is your favorite place you have travelled to?
A few years ago, my husband and I went out to Sedona and the Grand Canyon. We had so much fun exploring on four wheelers and hiking through the rocky terrain. It’s such a different environment than swampy Florida, where we are from.
Where in the world are you dying to go next?
I’d love to go to Zion National Park.
What is your favorite Rosenberry Rooms product?
I love the Sub Adventure Bedding Set. It has such a modern and unique take on the underwater theme.
Now, just for fun:
Favorite Food – Give me some fancy cheese and crackers and I’m set!
Favorite TV Show – my husband and I have watched Survivor from the beginning and we’re still hooked.
Favorite Movie – I’m a Twi-hard. Team Edward all the way! I also can’t wait for the Hunger Games movie to come out next month!
Favorite Weekend Activity – gardening with my son Kai or hanging out with family and friends
Favorite Musician/Band – I love me some Jamiroquai, Coldplay, Michael Jackson, Beatles – oh the list can go on and on …
