When I think of creative cake pops, Bakerella immediately comes to mind! (I’m sure I’m not alone in that thought, either). Angie Dudley, the creator of Bakerella, has really put unique and creative cake pops on the map. Cupcake pops, a Bakerella creation, are among the most popular. We had the pleasure of interviewing Angie as she shared with us what inspired her to create Bakerella, some of her favorite baking creations as well as some great advice for other entrepreneurs wanting to start their own business. So, I invite you to check out some of her adorable and amazingly detailed creations and read more about the baking sensation that is Bakerella!
What inspired you to become a baker and ultimately to found Bakerella.com?
They are really one in the same. I have always loved sweets but I never thought I would end up baking as much as I do. Several years ago, I took a cake decorating class and I was completely inspired by the teacher and what I learned in just a few short hours. I left the class and couldn’t stop thinking about making decorating cute little cakes. That led me to start a blog to keep track of my baking adventures. I never dreamed it would have led to so many real-life adventures and opportunities.
What is your favorite part of your daily work … when you reflect on the day, what is most rewarding?
The most rewarding part of the blog for me is reading all the wonderful emails from readers of the site that share stories about how the site has inspired them, helped them tap into their creativity or and even helped them make an extra income selling cake pops. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been moved to tears by the wonderful words people take the time to share.
What is your most memorable/favorite baking project?
One of my favorite projects was when I helped a reader’s boyfriend with a surprise wedding proposal on the website. He contacted me and we planned a scenario where she would read the post and he would be there when she did to propose to her.
If you could bake for anyone/any event in the world, who/what would it be?
I don’t really have anyone specific I dream of baking for. As long as the treats I make put a smile on someone’s face, that’s all I could ask.
What thing/place/event were you most recently inspired by?
I’m constantly inspired by different things around me. Even something as simple as a chocolate chip can get by brain spinning and before I know it I’ve made dozens of Panda cupcakes.
Where is your favorite place you have traveled to?
One of the best times I have had traveling was a three-week trip I took to Italy with a friend. It was incredible to immerse myself in another culture.
Where in the world are you dying to go next?
I’ve always wanted to go to Greece. I think it would amazing.
What is your favorite Rosenberry Rooms product?
I love the Tree Bookshelf. I first saw it on Pinterest and thought it was just the cutest.
Do you have any advice for other entrepreneurs who are just starting out?
Work hard, enjoy what you do and be nice along the way.
Do you have any news that you would like to share, perhaps about upcoming events or projects?
I do have a couple of projects coming out later this year. Keep your eyes open.
