The mission of Frog Prince Paperie is to bring inspiration for spectacular parties, DIY party projects and interesting party finds. Creator, Paula Biggs, was inspired by the whimsy of fairy tales, specifically the Frog Prince, and her party designs inspire the imagination by creating enchanting wonderlands and storybook settings for little ones and their celebrations. Paula gave me some of her favorite photos from past events she’s styled and asked me to choose my favorites. As you will see, I had no choice but to include all of them because they are so amazing! So, I invite you to check out the photos and meet Paula!
What inspired you to become a party stylist and ultimately to found Frog Prince Paperie?
I really wanted something unique to celebrate my son’s birthday — not something that had a cartoon character on it and definitely not something mass-produced. I couldn’t find anything that met my vision, so I designed the frog prince based on a favorite childhood fairy tale. Knowing there were likely others facing the same challenge of finding something special inspired me to start my business.
What is your favorite part of your daily work … when you reflect on the day, what is most rewarding?
It’s hard to pin it down to just one thing! I love the free reign to be creative in what I do, but it’s the people I work with who make everything so fun. I love interacting with other talented “party people,” and it always makes my day when I get photos from customers who have used my products to help throw a perfect party. That little kid with the big grin because he just had the best birthday ever never fails to make my day.
Do you have any advice for other working moms?
Juggling work and home is a struggle. My best advice is to put what is important to you first (for me it’s my kids) and know you can’t be everything to everybody all the time. Easier said than done most times, but every item on the to-do list can’t be the priority.
What is your most memorable party design project?
Definitely my daughter’s WISH party for her 5th birthday. It was the party of her dreams, and it was fun watching her be so excited about it! The colors and little details were so feminine and magical, I loved walking around the house that week in all the sparkle.
If you could style a party for anyone in the world, who would it be?
Kate Winslet. She strikes me as a down-to-earth mom with a great sense of humor, and my favorite parties are those that are just a little quirky and witty. Styling for someone like that who would appreciate that kind of party would be a blast! Plus, I’m sure she would insist on flying me to England to get the job done.
What thing/place/event were you most recently inspired by?
My son was my most recent inspiration. He suddenly developed a love of dragons and desperately wanted that for his birthday this year. Scary dragons for a bunch of three year olds didn’t seem like the best idea, so I looked back to my childhood for more inspiration and did his party around an old Peter Paul and Mary song—Puff the Magic Dragon. The whimsy and friendly dragon worked wonderfully as a theme.
Where is your favorite place you have traveled to?
I would love to be a world traveler, but I live in a little piece of paradise here in Florida. I am a big beach bum! It’s not terribly exciting, but one of my favorite places to visit are the Keys…the whole three hour drive of it from Key Largo to Key West. It’s a whole lot of nothing to do there but relax. When I visit somewhere new, I always want to get out and see everything there is to see, but the limited options of beach, boat, eat and scuba dive forces some down time and recharging of the creative batteries!
Where in the world are you dying to go next?
It’s my goal next year to pick myself up off my sunny beach and go see Ireland.
What is your favorite Rosenberry Rooms product(s)?
Do you have any news that you would like to share, perhaps about upcoming events or projects?
So many things going on! In April, I will be with Project Nursery at the Big City Moms Shower in Miami and in May I’ll be working with Operation Shower for an event in Ponte Vedra. In May, Frog Prince Paperie also plans on launching our first e-glossy, Festivities Magazine.
