What inspired you to become an event stylist and ultimately to found Oh Goodie Designs and Style.Inspired?

I have always had the knack for throwing a party. Most started as parties for my children where I would always find myself going overboard on all of the details and leaving my family exhausted from trying to keep up. That led to friends asking for help for their parties and finally to a light bulb moment when I said, “Maybe I can make money from this”.

What is your favorite part of your daily work … when you reflect on the day, what is most rewarding?

I love working with creative people. I have so many of them on my team and I would be lost without them. I enjoy chatting over ideas and brainstorming even bigger ones. We have a passion for what we do and together we inspire each other.  At events,   I love making children and adults smile. From the moment they enter their event they are amazed at what details can do. I love their reaction and and how the event reflects their personality. Making my client happy is my biggest reward.

What is your most memorable event design project?

I did a wedding at an outdoor venue and the bride and I covered every detail and my creative assistant and I worked non stop to create many handcrafted details and displays. The day of the wedding we set up all day knowing a storm was brewing. Not to disappoint my bride, we happily went on with the plan to decorate the barn and ceremony area. At the last minute it rained cats and dogs the hour before the ceremony. We rushed to move the ceremony indoors as guests arrived. It turned out to be a wonderful night and the compliments and remarks from guests made the hectic day so worthwhile. A little last minute rearranging, being prepared and forward thinking can save the day every time.

If you could style an event for anyone in the world, who would it be?

Hmm, this is a toughie. I would love to design an event for a Hollywood movie star or Martha, but I would really love to style a good ‘ol  American Fourth of July picnic for the President. I love the stars and stripes, fireworks and apple pie. I feel like his personality would put me at ease and patriotic fun would be had by all.

What thing/place/event were you most recently inspired by?

Recently, my sister and I have traveled to Southern California. The first time I went my eyes were opened to the clean lines and stylings of the surroundings.  It was then I realized less is more and many times look to California brands as inspiration.

Where is your favorite place you have traveled to?

Southern California. La Jolla, San Diego, Huntington Beach, Newport Beach. I’m so in love.

Where in the world are you dying to go next?

Paris. Isn’t that every girl’s dream? In college I studied French and at one time spoke fluent. I would love to go and see if it all comes back to me while taking the sights of fashion, décor and cuisine.

What is your favorite Rosenberry Rooms product(s)?

My sister owns a children’s clothing and nursery design boutique so I have spent many hours at market with all the lines and vendors. I love that you carry Bratt Décor and I love the Trina Turk designs.

Do you have any news that you would like to share, perhaps about upcoming events or projects?

I love contributing to Best Friends For Frosting. I love desserts, and it shows, so I enjoy my weekly posts. I also have started styling holiday shoots for 20 Best Twenty‘s website. That keeps us on our toes.

Now, just for fun:

Favorite Food – as South Texas girl, I can’t get enough of Mexican food. I eat chips and queso at least daily.  With a sweet tea in my cup holder, always.

Favorite TV Show – The Today Show.  I love to be informed of the news and the latest scoop on fashion, trends and pop culture. When I can’t sleep at night it’s  Conan.

Favorite Movie – Father of the Bride. I was watching this movie in the theatre how many years ago I fell in love with Franc and I wanted his job.

Favorite Weekend Activity – When I am not styling events, I just want to be with my kids. If that means softball games, hockey or football,   I’m there. I love to be with my family. Sometimes we escape to the beach. Sometimes I go junk-tiquing.

Favorite Musician/Band – I’m a little bit country and a little bit rock-n-roll.  I love Coldplay, U2, Madonna to Micheal Bublé and Rascal Flatts.

Is there any way you can remove me from that service? Many thanks!
