Babyology is defined as the place to find anything for children and parents that’s worth having, from the practical to the sublime and everything in between. If you love hunting down cool, innovative gear for pregnancy, babies, toddlers and kids and staying in touch with the latest trends and newest designers, then Babyology is the place for you. Based in Australia, they also like to focus on retailers that ship internationally (like RosenberryRooms.com!). Today we had the pleasure of interviewing Mandi Gunsberger, mother of two and managing editor for Babyology!
To provide a resource to parents and prospective parents giving them a place to find the newest and the best in baby and children design from all over the world. I love getting emails from readers letting me know how Babyology has helped them make decisions.
What is your favorite part of your daily work … when you reflect on the day, what is most rewarding?
My staff is wonderful and although we are a remote workforce with staff all over Australia, America and Europe, we stay in constant contact and I love working with such a talented and devoted group of people. I really enjoy emailing and talking on the phone to various team members throughout the day.
Do you have any advice for other working moms?
Try and balance the workload and family life. It’s very easy to spend all your time working when not dealing with the kids. It’s important to take some time out and take a few nights off a week if possible. If you work from home as I do, I know this can be hard as work is constantly around you, but it’s worth separating your work time, family time and leisure time.
What is your most memorable room design and/or event feature on Babyology.com.au?
The Missoni Baby Bedding is absolutely stunning and we were so happy to reveal this design to our readers. I am also a huge fan or the Ubabub cots and also the Kalon Cribs we unveiled to our readers when these two new designs were launched. A few other trendy lines recently featured on Babyology are Olli Ella Bedding and Fabulous Goose.
What is your favorite “find” this year; one that you just couldn’t wait to share with your readers?
This would have to be the new Bugaboo Donkey. We saw this the day it launched at Kind & Jugend in 2011 and we focused on this amazing pram ever since. I went over to Amsterdam earlier this year to visit the Bugaboo HQ and discovered the pram first hand before it was released, and we have happily kept our readers up to date on this product ever since.
What thing/place/event were you most recently inspired by?
I recently took a trip to Japan with my family for three weeks and I was completely inspired by Tokyo and also Kyoto. The Japanese people are so warm and kind and the country is very beautiful. I was completely inspired by the local culture and design, and their warmth towards children. Japan has so much to offer young and old with an exciting culture to experience, gorgeous landscape, friendly people, technology, design and lots of shopping.
Where is your favorite place you have traveled to?
The Maldives is one of my favorite places I have visited so far. The marine life is spectacular and if you scuba dive or snorkel, it’s hard to beat the Maldives. The water is very warm and the resorts are lovely. There is nothing to do but swim, relax and eat amazing food. We went there without the children but I would love to take them over there oneday.
What is your favorite Rosenberry Rooms product(s)?
I am a huge fan of anything Oeuf and used the Oeuf cribs for my daughters. Their design is very minimal and their products are such good quality.
Do you have any news that you would like to share, perhaps about upcoming events or projects?
We have just launched Babyology Excusive Offers which will give you the very best deals and discounts on designer baby and children’s products. We have a few new sections launching and have lots of plans for 2012 so keep checking back on babyology.com.au for details.
Now, just for fun:
Anything covered in chocolate as well as chocolate ice cream and chocolate mousse.
Favorite TV Show
Right now I have to say Sons of Anarchy. It’s like Sopranos but instead of mafia they are a biker gang in California. It’s very addictive as most HBO shows are.
The Sound of Music. I watched this movie so many times as a little girl and now I watch it all the time at home with my daughters. It’s a classic.
Favorite Weekend Activity
Going out to brunch with friends or baking with my girls.
