Catch Up with Pam of Project Nursery!

Project Nursery is one of my go-to sites for design inspiration, expert design tips and advice as well as gorgeous imagery of wow-worthy children’s rooms.  Melisa Fluhr and Pam Ginocchio started ProjectNursery.com in 2008 and it has quickly become a leading resource for moms and designers of all levels to feel comfortable and excited about taking on design projects for their little ones. Today I am thrilled to introduce one half of this amazing team, Pam Ginocchio, as she shares what inspired her to start Project Nursery as well the exciting things she’s experienced along the way. Enjoy!

What inspired you to start a blog devoted to children’s spaces and parties?

While Melisa and I were living in New York city, juggling careers, planning weddings and renovating apartments we discovered a love of contemporary design. Once we had children we would have endless discussions about nursery and kid’s room design. We realized there wasn’t a design resource online for parents planning their baby’s nursery – thus Project Nursery was born!

What is your favorite part of your daily work … when you reflect on the day, what is most rewarding?

My favorite part of my work day is logging on to Projectnursery first thing in the morning (coffee in hand) to see all the new room and party uploads from our community. I am constantly in awe of our readers creativity and style and it is so rewarding to see how the community continues to inspire and be inspired when it comes to children’s spaces.

Do you have any advice for other working moms?

Any working mom knows there are never enough hours in the day to get it all done! Set realistic goals for yourself so you don’t feel discouraged. I rely heavily on my daily to do list and try and knock out a few things each day. Also, enjoy some uninterrupted play time with your kids each day and when you can, don’t sweat the small stuff.

What is your most memorable room design and/or event feature on ProjectNursery.com?

I still go back and view the ABC and 123 nursery designed by two art school grads and owners of a graphic design business, Form Code. They used a projector to outline the large scale letters for a wall mural. I also love browsing through all the parties because they showcase such fun times for the entire family.

Recently I got hooked on an Aloha birthday party that featured a welcome wreath made out of tiny drink umbrellas. It looked gorgeous but seemed fairly easy even for the less craft inclined parent.

If you could design a room or plan a party for anyone in the world, who would it be?

Designing for Beyonce and Jay Z’s baby would be pretty tremendous. Talk about over the top, fabulous style.

What thing/place/event were you most recently inspired by?

I just attended the SF Art & Design Show, POP20 put on by the MOMA featuring 20th century modern art. So cool and inspiring

Where is your favorite place you have travelled to?

I feel in love with the people, culture and food in Vietnam. We are planning a trip back to the area next year and I can’t wait!

Where in the world are you dying to go next?

Oh, there are so many places I’d like to go. I have to experience an African safari at some point in my lifetime.

What is your favorite Rosenberry Rooms product(s)?

To pick just a few – a crime! Right now I’m trending glam and color: 1- the Flower Accent Table or Stool 2- The Charlie Diaper Bag 3- Orange Giraffe Silhouette Ceramic Lamp  4- Lemon Elephant Bookshelf  and 5 – An Alphabetic Ode to Helvetica Canvas Reproduction.

Do you have any news that you would like to share, perhaps about upcoming events or projects?

We just made major improvements (think faster, prettier and more inspiring) to our Project Gallery featuring thousands of rooms and parties. Become a member of our fabulous Project Nursery community to the latest!

Now, just for fun:
